Interview With The Life In Motion Group, Founder And Managing Director Thorsten Meier, January, 2011

Q: What is the history of The Life in Motion Group, how did it get started?
A. Founder Thorsten Meier, started The Life in Motion Group after several years in the travel and hospitality industry. He worked at several of the world’s most prestigious hotel companies, but still wasn’t pleased with the services provided to customers. He created The Life in Motion Group to fill the void in the market of a full-service, one-stop-shop for clients and all their needs around travels and events. The Life in Motion Group handles directly any and all personal and company travel and planning arrangements from booking airfare, hotels, performers, African safaris, experiences of a life time…you name it, they make it happen. The Life in Motion Group is dedicated to make their clients dreams and endeavors seamlessly come to life.

Q: What is your position within The Life in Motion Group?A. Thorsten Meier is the Founder and Managing Director of The Life in Motion Group LLC. The group has offices in London, New York, and as of recently, Frankfurt.

Q. What is your niche within the industry? Where do you stand apart from others in the industry?
A. The group describes itself as high maintenance “hand-holding” because it provides all services, without a middleman. Customers get to deal with one person/ company, rather than dealing with 4 different people for all of their (travel) needs. At first, customers may think that using a company such as The Life in Motion Group would be more expensive, but it actually saves them money because when booking through several different agencies, they all charge (in some cases hidden) transaction and management fees. In addition all services they offer (except event execution) are free of charge. Unlike those agencies, The Life in Motion Group guarantees to be transparent with their customers and always be “very open and straightforward” in making customer’s requests happen.

Q: Who is your target market?
A. The Life in Motion Group caters to several different markets. They provide their services to corporate companies who need support with travel and events. This includes basically any company who travels and holds meetings, however they also cater to the individual who wants a top-notch travel experience or access to an “by invitation only” event.

Q: What is the ultimate goal of your services?
A. Meier says that their ultimate goal is “to make our client’s life easier by giving them exactly what they want.” They pride themselves on giving their customers all options, and at the end of the day, letting them decide what works best for them. ”It’s essentially all about the customer and not about us and not about certain hotels or suppliers,” Meier concludes.

Q: How does your company promote its services?
A. The Life in Motion Group gains new clients most of the time simply through word of mouth from other satisfied customers and viral marketing. When people are happy with their service, they tell their friends. They also promote their services on the internet, in the trade press, at trade shows, and through sales calls and advertisements.

Q: What is the biggest challenge in running a company like The Life in Motion Group?
A. The hardest thing is getting your name out there, Meier states. The company is fairly new and they are still in the process of establishing their name and building their brand, which Meier knows will take time.

Q: Do you have any interesting new projects or developments?
A. They were recently contracted to plan and set up all Heavy Weight World Championship boxing matches through 2012 for Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. This is a huge project and opportunity that includes setting up everything for the fighters from: cars, security, transfers, hotels, ticketing… essentially everything but filling up the stadium. They also are in the process of planning a world tour in 2011 for an A-list American celebrity performer.

Q: Where do you see The Life in Motion Group going in the next few years?
A. “Growing, growing and growing!” Meier emphasizes. After just four months, the Frankfurt office was added and we are adding more people to our New York office, so there is already evidence of business growth.

Q: Does The Life in Motion Group have any existing relationships with other Dezer tenants?
A. They actually had their current Dezer space recommended to them by The DMC Group, whom they have planned some events for and worked with a while. They also recently started to work with two other fellow tenants. Hence they look forward to having the opportunity to work with more Dezer tenants in the near future.

Dr Ironfist Wins Yet Again!

One of Thorsten's (our founder) heavyweight clients, Dr Vitali Klitschko, fought against the European title-holder Albert Sosnowski in a sold-out football arena in the WBC World Championship title fight. 10 rounds and several right hands later, Vitali reigned Champion! Thorsten coordinated the entire hotel component fulfillment and sat ringside proudly cheering for his client.
